I have many ideas for new bios features⦠Unfortunately space is the bios is a luxury. Poll coming about what I would like to remove.
The bios embeds 2 Dreamcast logo: one w/ orange swirl, one w/o. How about using only the latter (2nd pic)? https://t.co/jYA4uYUDIs
If I need space in the bios, what would you like my to do with the dreamcast logos? (See previous tweets) Thank you

truemaster1 here. keep only 3d menus remove the standar 2d, without the swirl. and if that helps keep the blue swirl only on startup by removing the selection between blue or red. that will give a good space to add features. features-compatibility are most needed than custom visualisation. best regards hope next is resident evil code veronica x
Maybe you could make 3 versions of it. One with the red/orange swirl. One with the blue and another without any swirl. Hoping you could add the GameShark/codebreaker functionality so I can play my games in widescreen.
New features sounds very good to me, just remove both of them, so you will free to build something more amazing.
up to update my MX with this new bios soon π
See ya
Happy new year π
Thanks you for keeping the dream alive.
Bios update
I am about to buy a console on ebay that already has a new bios chip installed and flashed with your latest bios. Should I wait to buy it until you have released your latest build and have the seller flash it?
RE: Bios update
If the seller does the piggyback installation (99% chance that is the case), you will have two chips: the stock one which is read-only and the new one which is read-write. Thus, using dreamshell, you can reflash the read-write chip with any bios you have/want! In brief, no need to wait for the next release π
Re: Bios update
No need to wait, you will be able to flash the chip later with the new bios. To flash the chip you can use DreamShell. That application for Dreamcast makes flash operation pretty easy π
RE: Re: Bios update
Thank you for your reply. I received the modded console and it works great. 2 more questions: Is 1.32 your latest revision? This is what it is currently flashed with. And how do I access the menu to make changes to the boot animation and menu??
RE: Re: Bios update
One more thing I want to add: the seller did not use the piggyback method. The chip was completely replaced so there is no original bios chip and switch.
Bios space
What about using a bigger bios chip and integrate all the features you can create? Dreamcast bios chip mod is pretty easy to do
Is there any limitation that makes you not consider this option?
If need be, just remove both the Dreamcast Logo & the Img that says Dreamcast as well. If you can, I’ll just make the Dreamcast part in just text… if that can be done but it not needed.
If you can, maybe use a bigger BIOS chip as a 2nd idea for more features that can’t go onto the 2mb (16Mbit) as I think some 4mb chips will work on the Dreamcast as well. I’ve seen a list before, I think of the site for DreamShell.
Great to see that MIL-CDs will be working right once more. Maybe a feature to boot DreamShell or other apps?
Have you some news ?
I think using a biggest memory bios may be an issue for all you want to put inside. If it works of course, the list of dreamshell website maybe an issue as it says already. I didn’t know about this list, well done π
Finally what do you want to put inside finally ?
thanks for all.
Please make backups work again. 1.031 plays them but 1.032 locks the system when trying to play them. Tried several dreamcast with 1.032. Look foward to the next release!!
VGA patches
Hi Japanese Cake,
I’m not sure if this is possible or not but it would be a nice feature none the less.
Could a list of VGA patches/fixes be implemented into the BIOS for problematic games?
e.g. similar to how games are fixed with Action Replay codes.
A list that has tick boxes to enable or disable a fix dependent on the game.
Thanks for your hard work. π
Hi, can you make a patch for “Racing Simulation 2 Monaco Grand Prix On Line” it’s only a PAL game. (for the “Online feature” limited edition).
The game force NTSC 50hz on my NTSC-US console.
